Day 1

Distance: 25,2 km

Elevation: 1610 m

Highest point: 1180 m

Tolmin - Avsa

Arrival to Tolmin, which will take your breath away with its stunning Soča River and the surrounding Julian Alps.

Our first stage starts right at the most beautiful alpine beach – at the confluence of rivers Tolminka and Soča, which is also the starting point of Soča Outdoor Festival races. The first part of the way takes us along the stunning single trails along Soča River, right to the lake Most na Soči.

There is some uphill waiting for us there, as we’ll climb towards the scenic Kolovrat ridge. Barring any bad weather, you’ll be able to enjoy the view of Adriatic Sea on one side and Soča River with Julian Alps on the other. Don’t forget to also check out the outdoor museum there, which is a part of The Walk of Peace.

We’ll finish the day off at a tourist farm right under Matajur, where you’ll be able to wind down while enjoying a stunning sunset.

Day 2

Distance: 18,3 km

Elevation: 850 m

Highest point: 1650 m

Avsa - Kobarid

Nothing says good morning like a tasty homemade breakfast, which will give you more than enough strength to tackle your first challenge of the day – Matajur.

Matajur is located right at the border between Italy and Slovenia and offers incredible views of the northern part of Adriatic Sea, Julian Alps and a big part of Soča Valley. A whirlwind downhill is up next, taking you right to a cute little town right in the heart of Soča Valley – Kobarid.

This is the perfect time to enjoy an afternoon rafting, kayaking, canyoning or a scenic walk to Kozjak Waterfall. All history lovers can also take time to enjoy the first world war museum, situated right in the heart of Kobarid.

Day 3

Distance: 14,3 km

Elevation: 1230 m

Highest point: 1240 m

Kobarid - Kuhinja

We’ll start the day off by climbing Tonovcov Grad Hill, which is just enough to wake up and stretch our legs. Soča River will be accompanying us again, so there will be more than enough time to take in the views.

The main part of stage three is climbing Kuhinja Plateau, which is right under the iconic mountain Krn (2244 m). Our run towards the plateau will be diverse and full of interesting views – you’ll be more than blown away by Drežnica village, one of the most photogenic points in the whole Soča Valley.

We’ll spend the night in a mountain hut at Kuhinja Plateau, right in the Triglav National Park and at a truly idyllic location.

Day 4

Distance: 22,7 km

Elevation: 760 m

Highest point: 1450 m

Kuhinja - Tolmin

Our last stage takes us back towards Tolmin, where we started everything off. But it will be about more than just logging miles, as there are many interesting points along the way.

We surely have to point out numerous plateaus, where you’ll be able to catch a glimpse of the animals on their pasture. These are also the plateaus, where the iconic Tolminc cheese is made. Our downhill also passes the iconic Javorca church, which was built in memory of all first world war victims.

We’ll finish everything off right where we started – at the beautiful alpine beach in Tolmin. We can guarantee you won’t be able to resist a dip in Soča River during warmer days to cool and wind down after four days of exploring Soča Valley.
